Curriculum Writing Opportunities

I will start posting curriculum writing opportunities in this blog. Please let me know if you would like to contribute to this new feature. This week, I want to spotlight a couple of opportunities that I find worthy to pursue.

1) California Education and the Environment Initiative is seeking curriculum reviewers and writers.

2) Teachers Network periodically accepts application for its Teachnet Disseminator Grant.

This is a good piece by Deb Ng on Cold Calling in search of freelance writing jobs.

Evolution of a Test Item

This is a very interesting piece for those who write test questions. It talks about the evolution of a test item from first written by the item writer to field test.

Business Cards

Under the advisement of several job seeking sites for freelance education writers, I decided to print up a stack of business cards from Staples. To avoid conflicts of interest, I do not give them out in school - ever. In order to make these cards work for me though, I include them in the resumes I send out as well as during workshops and conferences - almost anyone relevant outside of school. Aside from sending resumes frequently, I find giving out business cards to be useful in "getting your name out there."
